Your volunteer experience

We couldn't do what we do without our amazing volunteers. Their skills, talents and hard work are what make the incredible changes we see possible. We also love to see our volunteers enjoying working with us and growing in their roles. Some of the things we offer as part of the volunteering experience include:

  • The opportunity to practise and develop leadership

  • Individual feedback and mentoring from staff

  • Basic training in how to excel in your role

  • Specific training such as safe-guarding and food hygiene

  • The chance to be part of a motivated team of individuals

  • Socials, thank you trips and masterclasses with other volunteers

Here's what our volunteers say about working with Flourishing Families...

"Volunteering with Flourishing Families has helped me as much as the families we work with. When I first started I was feeling isolated and quite lonely. Since volunteering I have made new friends and learned new skills. I’ve helped other families learn new and healthier options and some of these were new to me as well. It makes me happy when you see your efforts reflected in the attitudes of the people you work with and when you see people learn new skills which will benefit themselves and their families. Due to this my confidence has grown a huge amount and I’ve really developed my planning, organisation and communication skills."

Cooking Club Volunteer

"It's been so rewarding watching the children grow in confidence during the term"

"I've had a lot of fun with the year 5s and seeing them build relationships with the mentors has been fantastic"

"Thank you very much for welcoming me in as a volunteer two years ago. I have loved every minute and learned so much"
