As the Christmas holidays begin we look back on what's been a fantastic term for our family cooking clubs. We have been able to expand our volunteer base with the help of some new parent volunteers who have got to know us while attending the club as beneficiaries. We have also seen several Food and Nutrition students from Leeds University join the cooking team recently. They have really enjoyed working with parents and children in the group, and have even begun to introduce their own recipes! The new lentil lasagne and home-made garlic bread recipe was a great success (see photos below) and it was exciting to add another vegetarian option to the menu.
Feedback from the clubs has been as positive as ever, with parents reporting that their children are much more engaged in cooking at home as a result, and keen to try new foods. Here are some of the things that people have said... '“My son now cooks every night with me'' ”“Fantastic club!! We have enjoyed every minute! It’s because of this club that my daughter now loves cooking” “My daughter has asked for cookery equipment rather than toys for Christmas!”
