Meet the new Interns!

We are really pleased to announce that Flourishing Families has taken on 3 new interns for the 2021/22 academic year! The interns will be involved in lots of different aspects of the charity showing off their skills and gaining experience with the FFL staff team! Here is a little more about them! Skye Hi! I’m Skye, an intern at FFL and a student at Leeds studying Environmental Science. I’m so excited to be joining children and families around Leeds on their journey to flourish, especially when I get to share all my favourite things with them along the way- storytelling, arts and crafts, and making delicious food! As a certified bookworm, I am especially looking forward to the storytelling projects. While I love going on adventures through reading, I am certain that, through FFL, I have embarked on a real-life adventure with a wonderfully caring and inspiring team of people dedicated to the welfare of the families they help. James Hi! I’m James and I originally come from a small town in the west of Northern Ireland. Having completed 2 years of a BSC degree in Food Science Nutrition, my passion is food and how healthy food can be accessible to all. I am most looking forward to applying my knowledge of food science and nutrition in a fun and interactive way, which will hopefully change a child’s attitude to healthy eating. Lizzie Hello, I am one of the interns at FFL, I will be helping out in the social media communications for the charity and assisting in the various clubs FFL offers. I have a passion for supporting children from different backgrounds through the different clubs FFL offers, I was a Fine Art graduate from the University of Leeds and outside my internship you will find me embarking on various craft projects involving crochet or my sewing machine!

I’m a Somebody

“Before this group, I felt like a nobody. Now I feel like somebody.” This was the answer 8-year-old Evie gave when asked about the difference our Activity-Based Mentoring Group had made for her. This sums up for us why we do what we do. Everyone deserves to know that they matter, whatever their circumstances and challenges.
