Introducing Emma and Bekah!
The Flourishing Families staff team is growing, and we're really excited to introduce to you our two newest team members!

We’re delighted to have re-launched our parents’ craft group recently, meeting online in the evening when the day is winding down and most of the children are in bed. Our first project is ‘Yarn Painting’ – an ancient craft originally from Mexico. Whereas the Mexicans used beeswax and tree sap to stick their string together, we opted for a modern alternative – the trusted Prittstick. It’s been significant for everyone to spend this time together and offer one another support through this difficult season of home schooling and lockdown. Parents have been working very hard recently and appreciate having the time to chat to other adults, as well as discovering talents for crafts they have never tried before!

Our work to overcome child poverty was the top story throughout the day on BBC Look North on 20th December.
We’re thrilled to welcome the latest additions to our team, Tabitha, Papaya and Josiah, our Graduate Interns, and Helen, the latest member of our cookery team. We can’t wait for them to showcase their experience, expertise and enthusiasm! Let’s get to know them a little better…
“Before this group, I felt like a nobody. Now I feel like somebody.” This was the answer 8-year-old Evie gave when asked about the difference our Activity-Based Mentoring Group had made for her. This sums up for us why we do what we do. Everyone deserves to know that they matter, whatever their circumstances and challenges.
