Christmas Heroes

We want to tell you about Bruntwood and Sedulo – two businesses with bases in Leeds who have been heroic for our children this Christmas. But first, this is why what they’ve done is so important and so kind. Jayden (not his real name) is the eldest of 4 children. Life can be challenging and chaotic for Jayden, as his mum struggles to cope, and he has often missed out on many of the usual childhood experiences. He (along with his siblings) is going to be receiving one of 250 sacks of Christmas presents, generously donated to us by Bruntwood and Sedulo. The family support worker at his school suggested that these presents ought to include some clothes, because the children don’t have warm clothing or socks for the winter. The present bags do contain clothes, but there’ll be other presents in the bags on Christmas morning too. We tell you Jayden’s story simply as a way of illustrating that the kindness of these two Leeds businesses really will mean that Christmas will happen for 250 children like Jayden. Without their generosity, 250 children would be waking up on Christmas morning to very little. So, thank you to Bruntwood and Sedulo for all those presents – you guys really are heroes! You not only win back Christmas for the likes of Jayden, but you show these children that someone really does believe that they matter. That is priceless and is often what a child needs to begin a journey with us towards a different life. I’m a Somebody

“Before this group, I felt like a nobody. Now I feel like somebody.” This was the answer 8-year-old Evie gave when asked about the difference our Activity-Based Mentoring Group had made for her. This sums up for us why we do what we do. Everyone deserves to know that they matter, whatever their circumstances and challenges.
