Celebrity chef Simon Rimmer, our own specially developed recipes, 7 wonderful families and a TV crew – all ingredients for a truly memorable appearance on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch!
Flourishing Families was created to do just that – to see families living in deprivation flourish. There are 190,000 families in Leeds living in deprived areas, and we do what we do because all the families that come through our doors matter.
During the pandemic, we quickly adapted to a changing environment and the changing needs of families
In 2019 our English Conversation Class continued to thrive and grow. Our classes welcomed people from many different nations, providing a space to learn new language skills and connect with others in a relaxed and hospitable environment.
2018 saw the start of our activity-based Mentoring Groups, using Social and Emotional Learning to change lives.
Focusing on the importance of parental engagement in education, the article includes how our pilot project in East Leeds, supported by the National Lottery's Awards for All, is successfully helping to address this challenge.
We launched our very first Family Cookery Club back in 2017. Over the last 5 years these groups have developed into places where food poverty, poor nutrition and childhood obesity are tackled. The lives of families are literally transformed meal by meal.
Wow, it's our 5th birthday today! Where has the time gone? What an exciting time it's been! We've seen our activities develop and grow, gathered lots of amazing volunteers, and met loads of wonderful families.
Flourishing Families is supported by a wonderful and diverse team of volunteers. The generous gift of their time and expertise helps make the groups what they are – fun and welcoming spaces to learn and grow together.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of some of our supporters, we’ve been busy delivering 75 Christmas hampers to families in East and West Leeds in the last few days.
